Catellani & Smith Fil De Fer Outdoor Light - IP65

Designed by Enzo Catellani for Catellani & Smith, Fil De Fer was developed from a request for a huge chandelier for the Museo della Cartografia di Stato by the Fontana di Trevi in Rome. Enzo Catellani was asked to design a chandelier that was not only very large but, at the same time, ethereal and beautifully illuminated. Enzo Catellani immediately thought of using a light and flexible material that could also become a suitable structure for holding many spots of light. He experimented with the malleability of iron wire and the first shape that was created was an enormous sphere. Its appearance reminded him of the light, rolling bushes, blown by the wind in the Mexican desert. The Museum light was another thing completely, but this prototype remained, eventually becoming Fil De Fer. Available in three sizes: 50CM, 70CM and 100CM.
