Scarpa, Tobia

Scarpa, Tobia

Architect and designer Tobia Scarpa graduated from the University of Venice in 1969, and in the same year won a Compasso d’Oro prize for his Soriana armchair designed for Cassina. Since that early success, Tobia Scarpa has received numerous design awards, and many of his creations are on show in leading design museums around the world. As an architect Tobia Scarpa has worked for public and private clients including the Benetton Group, for whom he famously designed an industrial area and production plants in Castrette di Villorba (Treviso). A remarkable Architectural achievement, the Benetton facilities are still recognised as an example of aesthetic-functional excellence, and one of the world’s most exciting pieces of industrial architecture.
