Angelo Mangiarotti was born in Milan in 1921. He graduated in Architecture in 1948 from the Politecnico di Milano. Between 1953 and 1954 Angelo Mangiarotti worked in the United States, where he met like minded spirits Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Konrad Wachsmann. On his return from the United States Angelo Mangiarotti opened an architectural practice with Bruno Morassutti, where he worked until 1960. In 1989 he founded Mangiarotti & Associates based in Tokyo. Angelo Mangiarotti worked as an Architect, industrial Designer and educationalist throughout his career, and his designs were always shaped by his philosophy: The definition of the object's form, as a quality of the material.
