
Fukasawa, Naoto
Born in Yamanashi in 1956, Naoto Fukasawa Graduated from Tama Art University Product Design Department. In 1989 Naoto Fukasawa moved to the United States and joined IDEO. At the time, Silicon Valley was experiencing enormous growth with computer technologies, and Naoto Fukasawa became involved in the design of computers, electronics, medical equipment, furniture and sporting goods. In 1996 he returned to Japan, where he set up and headed IDEO's Tokyo office. In 2003 he established Naoto Fukasawa Design, with a unique and original approach to design: his Without Thought, and Design Dissolving In Behaviour are internationally supported philosophies. Naoto Fukasawa regards simplicity in design as the means to completeness and harmony between users, objects and environments. This philosophy is often described as Outline; defining relationships between objects, people and environment.
